*Sorry this post took so long, I have been having problems getting my resolution down but keeping the integrity of the photo:)

Casey and Cathy are super cute newlyweds! They live in beautiful Cle Elum and it had snowed that morning so we had some nice crispy white snow to play with. We were all freezing, but it was worth it. I like to do what ever it takes to get the photos I want and Cle Elum brings that out in me. Last time I waded in the river and this time I got down in a foot of snow to get the right angle.

I also loved this shoot because they were relaxed and open to my ideas. It's funny the looks I get when I mention a pose or location, but it's an artist's eye that captures the moment in a photograph. Casey is an artist too, he does beautiful western drawings. He made their Christmas cards and I got to take a little peek. Cathy was so fun and bubbly, they are just a wonderful couple to photography.

My favorite! She is absolutely gorgeous looking at her new hubby.

Hooray! First Lake Chelan AVA Nebbiolo.

I love photographing events, there is so much to explore and I just get so excited when I find the little details. This event was the release party for Benson Vineyards 2008 Nebbiolo wine. The event was also honoring employee Beth McGuffin, as this was her little baby. People had bought tickets and enjoyed wine tasting with a fab menu of yummy delicious food. When ever you have a chance you must go up the the vineyard. It has a beautiful view of the lake and gorgeous new tasting room. Some of my favorites is the 2008 Nebbiolo, 2008 Sangiovese and 2009 Curious.

This was just built and I just love the torches on the front.

The McGuffin family session 2010! It was so cold in Chelan that day. Poor Marcus was bundled in a blanket while we weren't shooting. This is my wonderful and amazingly talented friend Jamie Jaramillo. She's gonna be famous!

Jamie has been belting out in song every since I can remember. It's not like her wonderful talent is a miracle, she comes from a very musically talent family. Her father is Jumping Johnny, the entire family has been on stage at one point or another:) I am very excited for her as she is focusing on her career and coming up with beautiful lyrics.

This was our first session, we went to the "old skool" record store in down town Ellensburg. It was a blizzard outside so we didn't get outside:) I love this store and the couch in the pictures I have been dreaming about buying for a while.

Being a part of a team developing a project is defiantly something I want to do more of in the future. Matthew & Ashley's Wedding | Leavenworth, WA

The cutest couple in the world, Matthew & Ashley had a wonderful fall wedding at the Pine River Ranch near Leavenworth. This was such a wonderful occasion to witness. There were so many great people there for them that day and everyone was beaming with excitement! I am so happy for them!

These two are just down right adorable.

Matt & Ashley had super unique and personal elements at their wedding. The guest book was one of my favorites. There was a blank black paper book, with colorful pens and a stack of photos. Pick out a pictures past it on a page and write.

Gansereit Family | 2010

This is the beautiful and fun Gansereit family!

Crystal, the mom, and I went to high school together and we have tons of mutual friends. I haven't seen her since before she was pregnant and I just found out that our girls are only a few weeks apart. It's a lot of fun coming back to the town where you grew up and seeing people again. I can't wait for her do my hair. I have heard, since being back, she is a great hair stylist. Crystal and Dan have the cutest little girl and she was totalling into posting after she warmed up a bit. To the camera, not the weather, it was like 45 degrees out:) We did our first few shots just around the corner from my favorite coffee place, D&M. An Ellensburg "must stop" if your ever in town, there is like 3 or 4. You'll be able to find one :) Then to the old NY cafe, aka China Inn. The doors have been just screaming "take a picture of me". Our final stop was to Olmstead. I love this park because it has that old country valley farm feel, but it's public! It also holds some sentimental value to me because I did get married there over five years ago. I hope you enjoy these photo, families are so fun to photograph. And I was told this was their first family session. I was very impressed!

Brian & Lisa's Wedding | Ellensburg, WA

This was an amazing wedding for an Amazing couple! Lisa seriously flew in that Friday before her wedding from Colorado and she didn't even seem jet lagged. We started off the morning at Bella Vita Salon. It rained most of the day, except for the ceremony. They had the ceremony at Carey Lake in Ellensburg and then the reception at the new LDS church. I don't think the rainy day fazed Brian or Lisa a bit, they were just beaming with joy:) They are a perfect example of "the happy couple". I absolutely love Lisa's family too. I spent most of my time with her mom, who planned the wedding.

Pretty amazing person:) I think my number one favorite custom item from the wedding was the dresses. Lisa's grandmother and mother made all of them, including her gown! They are an amazing couple and I wish them the best!

Her best friend came all the way from Hawaii! She was a huge help and the nicest person.

10.10.2010 That is going to be easy to remember:)

This was such a fun wedding party! These two have awesome friends and family. They were happy, having fun and laughing with the bride and groom about how it was raining. Yes raining! I hear that is good luck though;) I think Renee is an awesome bride and I absolutely love her style and how they wedding turned out. The black and white theme was beautiful and modern. The shop, turned into reception hall, looked amazing! I was there a few weeks earlier scouting and the transformation was so cool. I notice when I do weddings I communicate and meet the bride's parents much more and I couldn't imagine it any other way. I'm not exaggerating when I say I keep on meeting the nicest parent's. They were beaming too I loved it and I totally wanted to steal the chair I took the bouquet photos with.

I love this length of wedding gown, especially if your having an outdoor wedding. I always worn people not to wear heals in grass. I ended up going barefoot at mine because I got stuck in the grass with every step.

Bride Model Session | Hood River, OR & Goldendale, WA

This session is was so wonderful to work on and my model and fellow photographer Jessica was an amazing muse. Most of my work is planned and coordinated around what the customer and I plan. My session are really base around the personalities of my clients and I pick up on their style and really give it my personal touch and make it happen for them. But this session was all about what I wanted.

first. I wanted to use a model. I am trying to branch out and go beyond what I have been doing lately. Being hired for product pictures, magazines and advertisements is something I would like to pursue, so taking photos of someone who is not my customer is something I want to get use to.
second. I wanted to have a major opinion on the styling of a session. It would have been nice to have an unlimited budget, but we got this awesome dress from http://www.modcloth.com/ and some accessories here and there. I think it turned out great and Jessica had those awesome shoes!
third. I really wanted to go to Hood River Oregon! I had driven past it this summer on a trip to Salem and I have been dieing to go check it out.

This was an amazing session! Ashley came up with the idea of this spot in the Teanaway where they like to hike, it was way more beautiful & inspirational than I had thought. It was a little walk to the river (part two) but on the way we stopped for pictures in this mountain meadow and to make it fun, it was filled with free range cows. The kids were wonderful, I just did a session with my kids yesterday and they weren't as well behaved.

I just adore their kids, they have there own unique fun personalities.

Baby Girl McKynlee, I just love her name, she is Miss Independent! She is out to discover the world.

Kade is the cute and quite one, I'm sure he's a riot at home, he was a little shy in front of the camera. But when you get him out of his comfort zone, he it full of personality and super fun!

And Blake, he is outgoing and very personable. One of the nicest kids I have ever met.

Tyler and Ashely have done a wonderful job with there kids and I'm so glad I got to take their family photos.

These two are so cute and amazing, together for over 10 years.

Last night we went to our friends birthday dinner, Happy Birthday Jason! As we were leaving Jorja just had to have a balloon, so she got one. SURPRISE! She was so in love with it and very protective, she does have a little brother :) She was running around showing it off and then the little brother punched it and away it went into the sky. Papa had to calm that girl down, she was devastated. We might have to go find another big balloon because I just love this photo.

Oh my! I had had such a great time taking these photos. McKenzie and I have been friends since we were eight! Her and husband are expecting their first little one, a boy, due in September. I knew this was going to be a fun shoot but I was amazed at how good of a model McKenzie is :) She has a perfectly round belly and it was just a great time. We did a urban theme first in downtown Ellensburg first (part one) and then out in the country (part two). She is going to be a wonderful mother and I can't wait to see that baby in a few weeks!

I have been working more and more on my artistic technique because that is why I love photography so much! I was trying out some new ideas with my camera and I wanted another person to share in this awesome new experience so I grabbed my brother Austin. Unfortunately the skies were not cooperating because of the fires in on the other side of the mountains. The sky was hazy and didn't have a lot of dimension and colors. I can't wait to get over to the coast and take pictures. I also think incorporating this technique into wedding pictures could give a very theatrical and epic look. I am very excited to master this new style!

I thought my babies had big cheeks! This little one was so good and I just love the chubbers:) She is a few weeks old now and just adorable. We took these pictures at their home because the lighting in their dining room is perfect. I love doing baby sessions at home because the babies are calm and it's climate controlled. She just slept through the entire mini-session, what a good baby!

Shawn & Mary | Couple Session

Newlyweds Shawn and Mary are friends of ours. Shawn worked with my husband at CAFB and Mary is finishing up her masters right now. She is very impressive! They have an adorable son Jay (previous post show his mini shoot) and they are expecting too. We are so excited for the two of them and wish them the best.

The session took place in Starkville Mississippi. They live down the street from Mississippi State University, so we started there. There is a gorgeous chapel (Chapel of Memories) and fountain area that I was just dying to use in a session. Then we went to the historic downtown area. The first photo posted is my favorite. They are so sweet and I can't wait to see there family grow.

I absolutely adore Jay! He is so much fun and the cutest little boy. My kids have a blast when they get to play with him. Jay was so energetic and such a little poser. He is so cheerful and talkative. His personality is addictive. There is no way you can't smile around him. Down by the River

Over the weekend we took the kids and one of the dogs to the river to play around. Israel insisted on leaving the house in his raccoon hat and new cowboy boots:) Jorja's rocks she was throwing in the water just got bigger and bigger. By the end we were all wet and muddy, but we all had a good time.

My wonderful sister, Michel, came to our little home in Mississippi for Christmas this year.

Christmas Baking & Candy Making

Mmmm! The smell of Christmas, baking in the kitchen and especially eating the cookies:) I have been making some of the family recipes the past few weeks. Here are my two of my favorites. Enjoy!

Butter Balls

{Tender Butter Cookie Dipped in Chocolate}

1 cup softened butter

¾ cup powdered sugar

½ teaspoon salt

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine all five ingredients together until well incorporated. Make two long rolls, wrap and refrigerate. When well chilled, slice the logs into cookies and bake at 300 degrees (20-15 minutes).

Chocolate Dip
1 cup semisweet Baker’s Chocolate
1 teaspoon Crisco
In a bowl melt chocolate and Crisco over hot water. Dip the baked cookie three quarters of the way. Lay on waxed paper until hardened. EXTRA: roll in chopped nuts or sprinkles after dipping.

Cranberry Macadamia Nut Bark

1 (lb) Package of Vanilla Flavored - Candy Coating Cut into Pieces

1/2 Cup Dried Cranberries, Cherries or Raisins

1 (3 1/2 oz) Jar of Macadamia Nuts

Line a cookie sheet with foil. Melt candy Coating in microwave following directions on the package. Stir in cranberries and nuts. Spread on foil-lined cookie sheet. Cool completely Break into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Store in airtight container.

These girls are darling and so much fun.We did a November Special session in downtown Columbus. It was 70 degrees out, so we didn't have any weather problems. I love working with kids because they have fun and sometimes tears, but they aren't afraid of looking silly:) I think this sessions turned out wonderful.

These little girls are just so cute :) I had so much fun and they were so good. Their matching Christmas outfits were awesome. It reminded me of when I was growing up and my mother made me matching outfits with my siblings. They had wonderful smiles and not to mention singers! I have been very busy the past few weeks and have many more ahead of me :) Jesse has been approved for the Reserves (nothing is official in the military though), we plan on moving to Washington in the spring if everything goes as planned. Jesse is not leaving for Afghanistan because they canceled half of the orders for next weeks deployment, YEAH!!! I am currently one armed due to Ulnar nerve surgery this past week. We are also getting the house ready to be put on the market. If I don't post for a week or two I haven't disappeared just busy:) We do have plans in a few weeks to visit Kentucky, so look forward to some traveling pictures. Have a great week everyone!

My Favorite Season!

Two weeks ago I took my family to the local pumpkin patch. The kids had a blast , especially Jorja because her papa nicknamed her pumpkin. She thought everything was hers. The thing i loved the most was the cotton bouncy house, there is no way we would see that in Washington. Jorja is afraid of scare crows and Israel is the official taste tester in the house:) If you're interested in visiting the patch it's outside Caledonia.

Last year, in Boise Idaho, was my first Race for the Cure. I walked in honor of my Grandma Virginia Oursland who was currently undergoing treatment at the time. I was joined by my wonderful friends and 18 month old daughter Jorja. We didn't run, but walked because I was 8 months pregnant at the time:) This year I am sadly walking in memory of my Grandmother who passed away a few weeks ago.

This project by far has been my favorite!!!

Not only did I meet Helen Karriem and her wonderful family, but I had the chance to taste everything :) Helen opened her restaurant on the corner of 7th and 15th street back in 1988. She cooks every southern dish you can think of, but with her own personal touch. The peach cobbler is the best I have ever had and I can't get over her chicken. I have fell in love with turnip greens:) Helen's food is great, but what I love the most about her is her wonderful smile and personality. I think Glamour shots are a joke:) Make-over photography is so not my idea of a great photo, but beautiful natural shots I'm into. Just with some unique natural lighting and a perky attitude you can create great photos. I especially think if you are a business person that you should have up to date photos of yourself. No joke, when we were looking for a realtor this lady had a 1988 glamour shot as her profile picture! And it's nice to have a fun photo for facebook or MySpace. Get those 10 year old pictures off and update already:)

If you decide to have a personal portrait done by a pro it can be a fun and funky or as modern and professional as you want. Portraits are not just for high school seniors!

When you get your family Christmas photos done this year make sure you get a few snapshots of everyone by themselves too.

Summer Fun in Vantage

When I went back to Washington in August I just had to take the kids to Vantage Washington. When my family first moved to Washington from Montana we lived in Vantage, right on the Columbia River. I loved it and the summers were so fun. We would come to the state park beach every single day to swim and play in the sand. Other then the occasional Gorge concert it was a quiet place.

Jorja and Israel had so much fun! When we got down to the water Israel ran right in, it shocked me. He didn't even act like there was a temperature change in the river. Jorja automatically clung to her Aunt "Monkey" Michel and went out too. Israel ate so much sand; you think he would have stopped after the first bite icky! I'm so glad I got to take my children to one of my favorite childhood spots.

Janel and Dusty are so fun and they were so excited! I love taking photos of any kind of wedding, but the younger couples are my favorite. They're so giddy and overwhelmed, I think its beautiful! Congratulations to Dusty & Janel !!!

I made these inserts (3.5" x 2 ") to go in the thank you cards for a wedding. This way the bride and groom can share their wonderful memories with friends and family. Jorja loves to dress up! She is such a tom boy too, but this little girl loves to put on make up :)

During my childhood, dress up was my number one favorite thing to do. My mom started collecting dresses, heels, bracelets and purses for the sole purpose of my sisters and I playing dress up. And this wasn't your Disney Princess stuff either, no plastic. Your imagination could run wild with stories of royal dances and prairie life. Getting all dressed up to to be queen and rule the land while waiting for prince charming, I think that was a favorite of my older sister's:) I love to see my daughter get excited when she puts on her "lips" as she calls it and her fancy dress. Her eyes gleam with excitement and she twirls in front of the mirror. A precious mother daughter moment !

I totally forgot to post some of our pictures from Seattle. When we arrived to Seattle we went to the aquarium for the kids. My only request was that I get a Starbucks, made correctly:) It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to move back when Jesse finishes school.

A Little Quote for Today

My sister in-law and I where best friends even before I new she had a cute older brother:) She is fun, beautiful and full of energy! We had so much fun when we got together. The stories I can share about us, but I'm not ready to tell those yet:) She not only is a friend and sister, but a awesome photographer. She has a very artistic and journalist photography eye. I love how she interprets what she sees through her lens.

She said something, when she came to visit this past spring, that I can't get out of my head. For some reason I just love what she said and it's inspired some of my techniques in my photography.

I love it and it's completely true. I think things look warmer, gentler and almost have a summery feeling. Sunglasses remind me of summer, the suns rays, hanging out next to the water and a light breeze. I don't know if she really meant for me to look this far into what she said, but it was a great statement! Just something to think about next time you put on your sunglasses.

Washington Trip

While we were back home, over the Fourth of July, we celebrated my parent's 25Th wedding anniversary! It wasn't big, just a backyard BBQ with family and friends. When you grow up in a big family like mine, you learn to enjoy the simple things in life. When we would refer to our summer vacations it would be us all going camping and I don't mean hauling a trailer. Tents, cooking in a dutch oven and washing up in cold water camping:) We always have a lot of fun getting together and that is what it's all about. I was very happy we had the opportunity to do this especially because my sister just had a baby and I live far away. My sisters and I all made the cake. My parent's originally had birds on their cake, so we kept it going. We had a lot of fun!

These are just a few of my favorites. Brandy is my best friend from school and she is just awesome! I am so glad they asked me take their engagement photos.

I have known Brandy since I was ten, we went to school together. It's kind of a funny story how we became best friends. We hated each other for some unknown reason, until we were forced to hang out one time:) She is an awesome friend and I am very happy for her and Jim:)

Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church is the site that is on one of my current MODEL CALLS. I accidently found it one day while trying new routes to get home from Columbus. It is gorgeous and it has beautiful surroundings. I think it would be awesome to have a wedding here. It's the perfect little southern church:)

I am very excited about this theme because it's one of my favorite things to do with pictures, Edit!!! I love to try different colors and make a photo playful or emotional. My new thing is to age pictures in a retro style. Very Fun!

I chose this one of my husband and daughter at the Tuscaloosa Air Show '09. Jorja just loves airplanes and she was so bouncy the entire time. She had a blast! One of the reasons I love this photo is because of it's sentimental value and story. A father daughter moment:)

I chose to isolate the color to focus on a paticlar part of the photo. Also I think it adds age to the background by making it black and white. I increase the contrast too.

This wedding was a last minute thing for me, Julie called my on Tuesday to see if I was available. And I was, so of course I said yes! Weddings are so fun and I love capturing people in love. Julie and Richard are really nice couple and they smiled the entire time. Their kids are super sweet and the youngest was a little camera shy at first, but she warmed up fast. They make such a cute family.

Paul is my baby brother, well kind of:) He's not a baby anymore and is like a foot taller than me too! This weekend he is at state for track and field and I am so bummed I don't get to support him from the stands:( He broke a school record for discus a few weeks ago and won the sub-district title in the event, as well as the title in the pole vault. He even got interviewed by the paper ( http://www.kvnews.com/articles/2009/05/06/sports/doc4a01c85b11a4c570421451.txt ).

I just wanted to give my little bro a shout out and that I am very proud of the great athlete he has become. Good luck!

I was in Northport Alabama Sunday for John & Kay's wedding, right outside Tuscaloosa. It has the neatest downtown area and had terrible weather! It rained most of the time, but stop right before the the ceremony so we could sneak outside for some pictures. John and Kay are really nice people and have great family. I am so glad I got to share this special occasion with them.

Last week I made the cutest blanket for Jorja. It was my first time making a blanket and I winged it:) There wasn't much, just two pieces of fabric and satin blanket binding. It turned out super cute (even Jesse said so !). I bought the fabric from Fabric.com with a $5 discount from Home Made by Jill. The one side was a Minky Cuddle Plush Black and the other Michael Miller Tattoo Parlour Fleur Tattoo Red. I am self taught, so I am pretty proud of myself.
